Friends to Children with Cancer
Each year as the holiday season arrives, it's a reminder that the year is about to end and a new one will soon begin.
It's this time of year that I often l reflect on my childhood and when my boys were little. As a child, I vividly remember peeking out the window and watching the snowflakes fall. It was an absolutely spectacular view with the pines trees of Mount Shasta in the background. I can almost smell the tamales cooking and hear the sounds of my eight siblings talking excitedly. Those are a few of my holiday memories; ones I have cherished my entire life.
As a mother, I watched my boys enjoy their holidays and still cherish the memory of their smiling faces as we strung popcorn to decorate our little Charlie Brown Christmas tree. I am proud that Friends of Scott works so hard to achieve a very simple goal — to create lasting memories for seriously ill children and their families. Memories have an important place in our lives and help us get through tough times. Each of us has glimpsed just some of the challenges children with cancer and their families face. At our activities, we have also witnessed the smiles and laughter they will come to cherish in the years ahead. This is their thanks for all you have done to make a difference.
